Pat Hat:
Adorable child's hat for babies and young children in fingering weight yarn. Hat grows as they do. This hat is simply a rectange that is knitted from the front edge (the cast on) to the center back. Tie straps are knitted separately and attached at the bottom. Row by row instructions.
Materials: 2.5mm needles, 100gm fingering weight yarn.
I call this the Pat Hat because it is adapted from one that was made for my daughter when she was born in 1974, by Mrs. Pat, the wife of my high school chemistry teacher. Every time I tied the original hat under my daughter's chin I thought of Mrs. Pat. Now, while working up this pattern and knitting the samples, I've thought of her as well. What a lovely gift she gave me. Thank you, Mrs. Pat.
