Sizes: Small, 36-38” chest(Medium, 40-42” chest)
Directions are for smallest size with larger sizes in brackets. If there is only one figure, it applies to all sizes.

Finished measurements:
sleeve length 20"
sleeve width at top of arm 22"
center back neck to cuff 30.5(32)”

Materials:
400gm - 450gm of worsted weight yarn (50gm approx. = 100 metres/110 yards
10mm(US 15) needles or size to obtain gauge
markers (or pieces of contrasting yarn)
darning needle for sewing seams and topstitching collar in place

Gauge:
11 stitches and 15 rows per 4"/10cm over stockinette st with 2 strands of knitting worsted yarn held together

Terms:
k - knit
kf&b - knit into front, then back of stitch
k2tog - knit 2 stitches together
p - purl
p2tog - purl 2 stitches together
RS - right side
ssk - slip 2 stitches separately to right needle as if to knit. Knit these 2 stitches together by inserting left needle into them from left to right.
st(s) - stitch(es)
WS - wrong side

Instructions:

First sleeve:
With 2 strands of yarn held together, cast on 28 sts.
*Row 1 (WS): P.
Row 2: K.
Row 3: P.
Row 4: Kf&b, knit to last 2 sts, kf&b, k1.* 30 sts
Repeat from * to * until 16 increase rows have been made. 60 sts/64rows
Work in stockinette st (for 8 rows) until piece measures approximately 20” and ending with a RS row.
Place markers on first and last stitch of this row to mark top of sleeve.

Brenda's Collared ShrugBack:
**Row 1 (WS): P.
Row 2: P3, knit to last 3 sts, p3.**
Repeat from ** to ** until piece measures approximately 21(23.5)” from top of sleeve markers and ending with a WS row.
Place markers on first and last st of this row to mark top of second sleeve.

Second sleeve:
Work 8 rows, end with a WS row.
***Row 1 (RS): K2tog, knit to last 2 sts, ssk.
Row 2 (WS): P.
Row 3: K.
Row 4: P.***
Repeat from *** to *** until 16 decrease rows have been made. 28 sts
Next 3 rows: P. K. P.
Cast off.

Finishing:
Sew sleeve seams from cuff to markers. Fold one side of back area over 3" in center to form collar (purl side (WS) becomes the right side (RS) for the collar). Pin in place so that each side curves to a point at the sleeve seam. Topstitch along edge of collar from one sleeve seam to other sleeve seam.
