Hallo Helmet
Hallo Helmet
The Hallowig from knitting gave me the inspiration to adapt and knit a knight's helmet for my son's costume for Hallowe'en. I followed the directions with a few minor changes using a light heathery grey acrylic worsted weight yarn:

I knit from the bottom up for only 5" and then created a nose guard by casting on 6 sts, knitting for 1" in garter st, then decreasing by 2 sts, knitting for another 1" and then attached it to the middle portion of the bang area. I cut lengths of bulky red yarn and fringed the seam down the top of the helmet. Spray glue makes the red fringe stand up nicely. You'll find the Hallowig pattern in the Fall '04 Knitty.
